Description

Stunning 1970s Pop & Optic Art object,
a cubic desk accessory as a 'Glow in the
Dark' paperweight or bookend by the
French designer Pierre Giraudon (1923-
2012). The encased fluorescent light bulb
glows in the dark after being exposed to
light.

During the 1950's Pierre Giraudon
discovers, as a biologist, the inclusion of
specimens in a clear transparent plastic
material. In the 1960's he initiates
exploring the artistic possibilities offered
by this 'encased' technique and it all
evolved in making lamps, objects and
sculptures in clear and coloured resin with
or without inclusions, till the late 1980's.
